Hong Kong, May 25th 2023. COVID restrictions have recently fallen. Andrey has flown in to see his dear yoga teacher and experience Hong Kong getting back to live with the Magic Room hosting its legendary event. Before the beats drop, his friend Jessie slips in one more plan:
“Come to dinner tonight—Janet’s putting it together.”
Janet, meanwhile, has arranged what was supposed to be a cozy girls’ sushi night for four. But word spreads, reservations stretch, and by evening twelve chopsticks-wielding friends squeeze around the table—including one surprise vegan guest named Andrey (cue panic → cue avocado rolls).
It clicks at the first sight.. But the giant table inbetween makes it impossible to speak with words - so the eyes need to do the job. When the party moves on to Janet's beloved Daily Tots, they finally get to talk. Their long searches for
the person feel wonderfully, suspiciously… over.
The next chapters write themselves in flight numbers and video calls: red-eye commutes between Singapore and Hong Kong, spur-of-the-moment getaways to Taipei, Bangkok, Bali, and Danang; family hugs in Germany, in Seoul and the countryside Korea; and every dawn and dusk punctuated by “Good morning” and “Good night my love”—sometimes whispered across a pillow, sometimes glowing on a screen.
Fast-forward to today: countless miles traveled, countless laughs shared, and one promise certain—this journey that started with a sushi seat shuffle is only getting sweeter.
